With the warm season, our olive trees start blooming!!
The flowers of the Nocellara del Belice olive tree begin to sprout during the month of April when daytime temperatures reach 20-25 degrees.
These little flowers are small size, white and odorless.
They are enclosed in an inflorescence that takes the name of "mignola".
The blooming that continues during the month of May happens first on the part of the plant facing south with a diffuse windiness that helps pollination.
Many factors affect how many flowers actually become olives such as climatic changes, nutritional deficiencies, water shortages, or an excessive production load in the previous year, debilitations suffered by the plant or diseases.
Below are some photos taken by us that show the beautiful transition from "mignola" to flower. It represents for us the first moment in which we can glimpse the fruits of our work.
